  • How easy is it to install a Fronius Wattpilot?

Installation is very easy and similar to installing a 32A GPO. After that, there are just four screws for the mounting plate and you are underway. The Fronius Wattpilot default settings let you begin charging as soon as the device is powered on!

  • What components are needed to install the Fronius Wattpilot?

For basic charging, the Wattpilot just needs to be connected to a power supply.

  • Is it possible to install several Fronius Wattpilots on one system?

Yes, you are able to install as many Fronius Wattpilots in parallel as you like. You are also able to load balance up to three Fronius Wattpilots on a single site with its in-built dynamic load balancing feature when installed with a Fronius inverter/Datamanager box and Fronius Smart Meter. However, keep in mind that PV surplus mode only works with one Fronius Wattpilot per site.

  • Where should the Wattpilot be installed? Does it need protection from the sun and rain?

The Fronius Wattpilot can be mounted upright indoors and outdoors. It has a protection class of IP65 meaning that it can be exposed to rain without detriment. Exposure to direct sunlight should be avoided as much as possible.

  • How does the portable feature of the Fronius Wattpilot Go work?

The Fronius Wattpilot Go just needs to be connected to a three-phase socket to operate as a simple plug-and-play charger when on the road. If connected on a single phase site, it will need a converter.

  • Can the Fronius Wattpilot operate on both single and three-phase sites?

The Fronius Wattpilot can operate on both single and three-phase power supplies without the need for any additional hardware. It will intelligently ramp up or down based on the amount of energy it has access to.

  • Is a PV system required to use the Fronius Wattpilot?

The Fronius Wattpilot can be used with or without a PV system. However, it is much more efficient in terms of cost & energy consumption for your customers to charge their EVs with the electricity they generate from a Fronius PV system.

  • What EVs are compatible with the Fronius Wattpilot?

Any EV that accepts Type 2 charging can be charged with the Fronius Wattpilot and Wattpilot Go.

  • How do my customers monitor and control the Fronius Wattpilot?

Our dedicated Solar.wattpilot app can be used monitor and control all of its intelligent features like setting charge times, Eco mode, Next Trip Mode and more! If your customer has a Fronius solar system and a Solar.web account, you can also add their Fronius Wattpilot into the platform for remote monitoring (realtime & historical data).
Note: Charging with variable tariffs is not available in Australia.

  • Why does the Wattpilot not come with a hardwired Type 2 cable?

The Wattpilot does not have a hardwired Type 2 cable to ensure that any issues resulting from cable damage can be easily resolved through a simple off-the-shelf replacement, making it much more convenient for end customers if they experience a faulty cable.
